Awaken your mind to the observer within.

A follower t on Google+ needed clarifications on the matters of the brain, mind, soul and spirit. I had promised him that since this issue puzzles so many others like him, I would reply to it on my Blog.

This involves a simple simulation exercise of the mind. Be comfortably seated, close your eyes and ask yourself the question who are you?

If you were to begin on the physical aspect and begin from inwards, an ugly image of a skeleton covered with flesh is what your body essentially is. Thousands of muscles, blood vessels and millions of nerves relaying the inputs from sense organs to the brain. Organs, some vital, such as the heart and the brain. Of them all, the brain, the controller, monitor must function 24/7 without a pause in order to sustain life.

In a way though, despite it's powers of cognition, intelligence and complexity, the brain remains an organ- the central server of the body.

The mind is the function of the Brain, the Operating System, or Software. It taps the resources of the Brain to empower you with the powers of imagination, creativity, genius as well as feeling emotions to make you human. Which makes me think, who runs the mind? I am typing away on my laptop (brain), using multiple applications and a Browser (mind): however, 'I' happen to 'own' and control both my brain and mind.

Come to think of it, we 'humans' are a self appointed exalted species ordained to rule the world. What makes us us so special in the first place? Our sheer numbers- Seven billion plus backed with a superior intelligence and technological skills? Now imagine you were the only human on this planet. Would you be so superior then?

You might have noticed your mind taking off on tangential thoughts asking more questions of you. This is your mind at work. The mind, after all, is the these thoughts. Now, shake yourself up.

Who do you think was observing these thoughts or effectively, minding your mind?

There is a silent entity inside you observing you every moment, all your thoughts, emotions and actions. This is the real you- your soul, spirit or consciousness. The unborn, eternal, indestructible. A concept difficult to grasp especially for the uninitiated. Meditation helps us to connect with the soul.

In the soul of every living being is seated the Supreme Soul, God himself. He has given you, as a human, the unique power to ask yourself questions ~
Why was I born?
What is my purpose in life?
To discriminate between the good and the bad. To go out and seek answers, to elevate yourself from being a supremely intelligent animal.

Are you prepared to seek these answers?
Freedom, in its truest sense, lies at the other side of ignorance.

You have been created to ask these all important questions of yourself and seek answers to them.
